Theo Kalomirakis' unique brand of designs has earned him a reputation as the designer of the world's finest
home theaters. Today, when there is a home theater in almost every upscale home, early adapters among high-end consumers
are pushing the envelope to create environments where the place to watch movies is just one among others dedicated to home
entertainment activities.
Not unlike the direction thematic design has taken in Las Vegas and in various theme parks, some or all of these rooms
can be organized around the home theater of the residence to create an environment of escape and fun. The main difference in
our thematic design from places like Las Vegas is the authentic building materials used and careful attention paid to
construction details. View some of our environments in our Theater Portfolio.
The idea is simple. Larger houses built today are increasingly complementing the basic entertainment spaces with more
specialized spaces such as a wine cellar, a game room, or a library. Why not tie these spaces together under a thematic
design concept to enhance their collective entertainment value?
In many cases, these spaces are unified into designed environments that explore an in-house streetscapes where rooms are
themed as “stores” or “storefronts”. For example, the wine cellar becomes a local bistro, the game
room turns into an arcade, the library into a bookstore, the home theater into the downtown movie palace, etc. as they are
all lined up on an imaginary main street or village square. Furthermore, by giving these stores a specific geographical
flavor, an entire level of a residence can be transformed into an enchanted Tuscan hamlet, a picturesque French town, or a
sleepy English fishing village.
